Veterans Banner Program 2026

The Vittoria & District Foundation Inc. will be participating in the 2026 Veterans Banner Program! Here’s a great way to honour your family member's military service - consider purchasing a banner which will be displayed multiple years in the village during the traditional period of Remembrance (fall through November 11).

Banners are reserved for veterans who are deceased, but not limited to those who died in conflict. Veterans must also have grown up, lived in, or had a significant connection to Vittoria and area. The banners follow the same design as those already established through the Program for the villages of Port Rowan, St. Williams and Waterford. A black and white portrait of the veteran in military dress is featured in the centre of the banner with clusters of poppies around the top. The birth and death dates are listed under the portrait along with the theatre of war (example: WWI, WWII, Korea, Peace Keeping, etc.) and the unit with which they were attached (example: Royal Canadian Artillery, Royal Canadian Air Force, etc.). The veteran’s name with rank is printed along the base. The graphic illustrated on this page shows the final product.

Banners are double sided, weather resistant vinyl that will be displayed from fall through Remembrance Day and will be reused for multiple years. Placement on Main Street/Old Brock Road will be coordinated through the V&DF Inc. Heritage Committee. Once purchased by the sponsor/family, banners become the property of the V&DF Inc.

To participate in the Veterans Banner Program, a completed application form is required along with the following (application DEADLINE is June 30, 2026):

  • A high-quality photograph of the veteran in uniform (assistance may be provided if the veteran served in the Great War)

  • Military Service details as complete as possible (If assistance is needed, the V&DF Heritage Committee is most willing to help - just email vittoriabanners@gmail.com)

  • Payment with cheque made out to the Vittoria & District Foundation Inc. (full instructions provided once application has been submitted and approved).

NOTE: Vittoria Veteran Banners are approved in order of their submission. The V&DF Inc. reserves full rights on approval and banner creation.

COST: The total cost for a 2026 Veteran Banner is $325.00 (double-sided, colour vinyl banner along with a pair of custom mounting brackets for the pole).

The Veterans Banner Program originated with the Norfolk Remembers Committee and was initiated by the Port Rowan South Walsingham Heritage Association in 2024. A total of 76 Veterans Banners have now been created and displayed in Port Rowan, St. Williams with expansion to Vittoria and Waterford for 2026.
